Christina Giannini Collection of Design Drawings
The Christina Giannini Collection of Design Drawings consists of design drawings and paintings, primarily costume designs for dance and theatrical stage productions, and also including stage design drawings. Also included in the collection are design notes, stage design scale drwaings, photographs, production posters and programs, and correspondence and paperwork regarding design projects. In addition, the collection includes resumes, portfolios, and awards, as well as material related to Giannini's travels.
Edward Stierle Collection
This collection is comprised of photographs, ephemera, published materials, and newspaper articles dedicated to the career and legacy of Edward “Eddie” Stierle. Materials document his competition wins, enrollment as a high school student at the North Carolina School of the Arts, career with the Joffrey Ballet, and his death from AIDS complications in 1991. Memorial items and other material collected after his death are also included.
Howard Jones Collection of Scenic Designs
Howard Jones was the Director of Scenic Design and Scene Painting at North Carolina School of the Arts for over twenty years and created designs for a wide range of school and independent productions in addition to teaching courses in the School of Design and Production. Jones' scenic designs created for NCSA make up the bulk of this collection, including hand-drawn and digital drafts, finished designs, and painter's elevations. Works created for the Summer Scenes performing art series in Manteo, NC are also included, along with some student work and photographs of his designs and the Design and Production Studio.
Larry Ropp Collection
Lawrence A. "Larry" Ropp was the first Director of Costumes at the North Carolina School of the Arts and created costumes for a range of school and local productions in addition to teaching courses in costume history, design, and construction. Ropp's costume designs make up the bulk of this collection and include designs he created as a student at Kenyon College and Carnegie-Mellon University, as an employee at NCSA, and freelance work produced after leaving the school in 1977. Photographs of his work are also included, as are ephemera related to his career including programs, NCSA brochures, correspondence, and newspaper clippings.
North Carolina Dance Theatre Collection
The collection contains newspaper and magazine clippings, press releases, brochures, programs, and correspondence related to the North Carolina Dance Theatre, a professional affiliate of the School of Dance at the North Carolina School of the Arts.
Photograph Collection
The Photograph Collection consists of photographs of University of North Carolina School of the Arts students, faculty, staff, visitors, performances and events, as well as selected professional affiliate and local performing arts organizations. Included the collection are photographic prints, negatives, slides, and digital photographs.
Poster Collection
The Poster Collection consists of posters produced by each of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts' five schools, as well as those from all-school productions, international programs, special events, campus life, the Stevens Center, and professional affiliate organizations. Posters range in size and typically include text and graphics announcing performances and events related to the school.
Program Collection
The Program Collection consists of programs from University of North Carolina School of the Arts performances and events, as well as selected professional affiliate and local performing arts organizations. Included in some files are brochures and mailers.
Promotional Material Collection
The Promotional Material Collection consists of brochures, flyers, fact sheets, calendars, and other ephemera promoting the University of North Carolina School of the Arts student enrollment, summer programs, performances, student services, professional affiliates, and other related events and programs.
Sandra Williams Collection
Sandra 'Sandy' Williams was a student in the North Carolina School of the Arts (NCSA) School of Dance, graduating from the high school program in 1967 and receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1970. After graduation, Williams worked for NCSA and the North Carolina Dance Theatre as Ballet Mistress. The collection includes yearbooks, programs, newspaper clippings, photographs, correspondence, and realia from her educational and professional activities.
