This collection includes material created by the Associates of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, from their inception in 1977 to 2019. Meeting agendas and minutes, member directories, newsletters and correspondence make up the bulk of this collection.
This collection is comprised of photographs, ephemera, published materials, and newspaper articles dedicated to the career and legacy of Edward “Eddie” Stierle. Materials document his competition wins, enrollment as a high school student at the North Carolina School of the Arts, career with the Joffrey Ballet, and his death from AIDS complications in 1991. Memorial items and other material collected after his death are also included.
The Giorgio Ciompi Collection consists of materials related to the International Music Program in Siena, Italy, including correspondence between Ciompi and Siena officials, as well as members of the NCSA Foundation and other financial backers. In addition to correspondence, the collection includes travel and teaching schedules, music programs, brochures of tourist sites, catalogs, notes about student performers, student lists, and faculty contracts.
This collection is primarily composed of scores and recordings of Byers’ compositions, dating from his first composition in 1959 at age 9, through 2006. Audiovisual materials include four VHS tapes labeled
Patrick Byers Residency dated February 2005, and thirty-two audio cassette tapes dated 1982-1997. The collection also includes personal correspondence, photographs, and programs.
The Poster Collections is made up of posters produced by each of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts' five schools as well as those from all-school productions, international programs, student life, the Stevens Center, and professional affiliates. Posters range in size and typically include text and graphics announcing events related to the school.
The Program Collection consists of programs from University of North Carolina School of the Arts performances and events, as well as selected professional affiliate and local performing arts organizations. Included in some files are brochures and mailers.
The Promotional Material Collection consists of brochures, flyers, fact sheets, calendars, and other ephemera promoting the University of North Carolina School of the Arts student enrollment, summer programs, performances, student services, professional affiliates, and other related events and programs.
The Publications Collection comprises an assortment of informational and creative publications by University of North Carolina School of the Arts students, faculty, and staff. The contents are primarily directed towards members of the campus and alumni communities: student newspapers and magazines, campus and alumni newsletters and journals, faculty newsletters, residence life flyers, yearbooks, maps, and directories and manuals of students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
Sandra 'Sandy' Williams was a student in the North Carolina School of the Arts (NCSA) School of Dance, graduating from the high school program in 1967 and receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1970. After graduation, Williams worked for NCSA and the North Carolina Dance Theatre as Ballet Mistress. The collection includes yearbooks, programs, newspaper clippings, photographs, correspondence, and realia from her educational and professional activities.
The School of Design and Production, Visual Arts Collection includes records, ephemera, and audiovisual materials produced since the school's inception in 1968.
