Artist Village Time Capsule Collection
The Artist Village Time Capsule was buried on 8 April 2022 to celebrate the opening of Artist Village, a new student residence hall which opened in January 2022. The capsule contents were selected by a committee of staff and faculty from submissions from the campus community, and were chosen to reflect significant topics and themes from the 2021-22 school year. The materials in the collection include some duplicates of the time capsule's contents, as well as items that provide context. The collection will remain closed for research until the opening of the time capsule for the 100th Anniversary of UNCSA.
Julian E. Eubank III Collection
The collection includes material produced and collected by Julian E. Eubank III, an NCSA Design and Production student from 1968-1972. Particularly represented are Eubank’s photographic works depicting campus and local scenes, classmates, and school productions. Also included are school publications, newspaper and magazine clippings, correspondence, academic records, class assignments and notes, set designs, programs, and other ephemera. The collection also contains some material collected by Eubank as an alumnus, especially correspondence and publications from the school, performance calendars, and programs.
Office of the President/Chancellor Records: Vittorio Giannini
The collection consists of records produced by Vittorio Giannini, the first President of the North Carolina School of the Arts. Records span Giannini’s proposal for the school in 1962 to his death in 1966, with some records related to his tenure and estate added posthumously. Reports regarding NCSA’s opening, functioning, and budget are heavily represented. Correspondence from NCSA employees, the board of trustees, prospective staff and students, and various associations for the fine arts is also included.
Photograph Collection
The Photograph Collection consists of photographs of University of North Carolina School of the Arts students, faculty, staff, visitors, performances and events, as well as selected professional affiliate and local performing arts organizations. Included the collection are photographic prints, negatives, slides, and digital photographs.
Reports Collection
The Reports Collection consists of reports and proposals generated by the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and other related entities on topics such as the founding of the school, accreditation, long-range and annual planning, campus development, curriculum, partnerships, and fundraising, among others.
Thomas S. Kenan Institute for the Arts Records
The Thomas S. Kenan Institute for the Arts is a nonprofit organization established in 1993. Since its establishment, the Institute has funded a variety of local and national programs with the goal of strengthening the arts and supporting arts innovation. In the 2000s, the Institute narrowed its focus to programs directly benefitting UNCSA and its community of students, faculty, and alumni. The bulk of the collection is made up of project files from programs funded by the Institute including project proposals, budgets, progress reports, feedback, and marketing material. Also included are meeting materials, administrative files, correspondence, newspaper clippings, and audiovisual materials.
