Festival Theatre Incorporated Records

Abstract

This collection includes materials produces by Festival Theatre Incorporated, a professional affiliate of the North Carolina School of the Arts. Particularly represented are materials related to their North Carolina Summer Festival, held from 1973-1974. The collection is largely comprised of financial information such as accounting sheets, box office and concession reports, payroll information, and budgets; advertising materials including contracts, radio and television rates, and advertisement proofs; and promotional materials such as posters, brochures, bumper stickers, programs. Correspondence, news clippings, and press releases are also included.

Abstract

The collection consists of records produced by Vittorio Giannini, the first President of the North Carolina School of the Arts. Records span Giannini’s proposal for the school in 1962 to his death in 1966, with some records related to his tenure and estate added posthumously. Reports regarding NCSA’s opening, functioning, and budget are heavily represented. Correspondence from NCSA employees, the board of trustees, prospective staff and students, and various associations for the fine arts is also included.

Piedmont Chamber Orchestra Records

Abstract

The collection is made up of materials produced by the Piedmont Chamber Orchestra, a professional affiliate of the North Carolina School of the Arts, from 1969-1983. It contains correspondence with potential tour hosts and sponsors, orchestra members, the Orchestra’s Board of Directors, and the NCSA Foundation. Also included are contracts, program offerings, public relations materials, financial reports, notes and meeting minutes, and tour planning information such as mileage and lodging records.

Thomas S. Kenan Institute for the Arts Records

Abstract

The Thomas S. Kenan Institute for the Arts is a nonprofit organization established in 1993. Since its establishment, the Institute has funded a variety of local and national programs with the goal of strengthening the arts and supporting arts innovation. In the 2000s, the Institute narrowed its focus to programs directly benefitting UNCSA and its community of students, faculty, and alumni. The bulk of the collection is made up of project files from programs funded by the Institute including project proposals, budgets, progress reports, feedback, and marketing material. Also included are meeting materials, administrative files, correspondence, newspaper clippings, and audiovisual materials.
